Reason #1: Good veterans are trustworthy.

Trust is the backbone of every veterans’ character.  This trust is earned through their loyal service to our country. As a real estate agent, you need to build trust with your clients in order to build strong relationships and represent them fairly and honestly. Because of this, veterans that transition into real estate typically are great at fostering a sense of trust with potential clients.

Reason #2: Good veterans are goal oriented and driven.

Having a military background teaches you how to stay focused and motivated when it comes to achieving your goals. A lot of this motivation comes from their “can-do” attitude, which is one of the most valuable characteristics a real estate agent can have in order to close deals quickly.

Whether it is a mission you must complete in the military or a sale you need to close in real estate, veterans have the discipline and drive to see it through.

Reason #3: Good veterans are lifelong learners.

Soldiers are constantly being asked to learn new tasks. When being trained for the military, they learn to master skills that most people take 4 years in school to learn. Veterans are able to quickly learn whatever is put in front of them.

Similarly, real estate agents must be able to learn about new real estate laws, new technology, and how to market properties as market trends change. The best real estate agents are always looking for new ways to improve their business and can pick up on the new concepts they learn quickly.

Reason #4: Good veterans have a strong work ethic.

The military doesn’t just teach hard work, it demands it. Experience in this type of environment can be extremely beneficial to veterans when entering the real estate industry.

Veterans are used to working long hours, being on call, and meeting deadlines. This type of work ethic translates well into real estate because agents must also have a strong work ethic to build their client network and close transactions.

However, the day-to-day life of a real estate agent is significantly less labor intensive, allowing veterans to leverage their strong work ethic in a more manageable way.

Reason #5: Good veterans earn WAY more selling real estate.

Veterans may have a difficult time finding a good-paying job once they are out of the military. When transitioning into civilian life, many veterans find that the valuable skills they learned in the military don’t always get recognized in the job market or help when it comes to finding a lucrative career.

Overall, the income structure of a real estate agent allows for a much larger earning potential than most jobs that are geared towards veterans and ensures the skills they acquired during service are recognized and reflected in their paycheck.

Real estate agents can make $75,000-$100,000 in their first year alone and it only grows from there. The best agents can make anywhere between $500,000 and $1,000,000 a year!
